Sustainability
For us at Laxhall harbor pub & conference, sustainability is a central issue that we carry with us in all the decisions we make. Below you can read about a selection of our efforts, if you have tips for local collaborations or sustainable efforts, please let us know!
The building
When the restaurant burned down in 2019, we put a lot of time and energy into building it as climate-smart and safe as possible. We then chose to collaborate with our local Moelven in Töreboda and used their glulam, which is both climate-smart and fireproof. We also chose to invest in robust windows that are extra insulated to save energy. We installed solar cells on the roof at the same time as
the new construction that produces.
The food
In our restaurant, we use local ingredients and work closely with our food producers. We are also proud members of local menu which works for local collaborations in the restaurant industry. We are located right on Lake Vänern where we work together with a local fisherman and take water directly from Lake Vänern.
The staff
For us, the staff is the heart of the entire company. We encourage young people from the island to apply for summer jobs with us, where we are often their first employer. Laxhall should be a fun workplace that people look forward to coming to, something that our returning summer workers testify to.
Accommodation
In our cabins, we choose to only offer organic sheets and towels that are washed by Bengtsfors Rikstvätt, which meets the Swan’s environmental requirements. The buildings are built in the same way as the restaurant, with sustainable materials and with local suppliers. Our cabins are heated by geothermal energy.
